Jeter: Nehemiah Alliance is mobilizing the people to rebuild our walls

National and faith leaders are preparing for a nationwide 52-day spiritual campaign aimed at healing the nation and strengthening families.

“For such a time as this — the 250th anniversary of America — we recognize that the spiritual battle for the soul of our nation, and for ‘We His People’ throughout the world, has intensified,” states the Nehemiah Alliance. “The moral and cultural walls of our societies are in need of rebuilding, renewal, and spiritual reformation.”

Barbara Ann Jeter, visionary and executive director for the Nehemia Alliance, says the movement is a call for prayer, fasting and repentance across all 50 states. It will also occur in over 100 nations.

"Together, we are all mobilizing the people to rebuild our walls, restore our homes, revive our hearts, renew liberty and justice for all and reunite us as one blood, one nation under God," Jeter says.

Inspired by the example of Nehemiah — how he rebuilt the walls of his homeland of Jerusalem in 52 days — this event surveys the spiritual condition of the nations today and recognizes that “spiritual walls of blessing and protection” need to be rebuilt.

The initiative begins at sundown on September 10 and runs through sundown on November 1, featuring a major assembly on the National Mall in Washington D.C. on October 31.

Jeter says a central focus of the campaign is rebuilding what she calls the "family altar."

"People are starting to get involved, going to their capitol, praying, but we've kind of lost the family altar, the focus on the family. If we lose the family, we lose the nation," Jeter states.

Organizers are asking believers to do three simple things: join in a common daily prayer for America, fast for three days during the campaign and commit to praying regularly over their own homes and local communities.

Local churches are also being invited to stream the National Mall event live on Reformation Day (October 31).
