Talarico believes 'God is non-binary' comment is not theologically controversial

A biblical apologist says Texas Democrat Senate candidate James Talarico continues to mangle the scriptures.

James Talarico first spoke this particular heresy from the floor of the Texas House during a debate about boys playing in girls' sports.

“God is both masculine and feminine and everything in between. God is non-binary,” Talarico said.

Fox News reports he was asked about those comments on a podcast called "The Bulwark," where he said his claim was backed by the Apostle Paul.

“In fact, the Apostle Paul, in his letter to the Galatians, says that in Christ there is neither male nor female,” Talarico stated.

He admitted that he was being provocative with his previous comment and continues to believe that what he said wasn’t controversial theologically.

This is not the first time Talarico has butchered Scripture to fit his own ideals. AFN reported previously on how Talarico used the story of Mary in Luke 1 to defend abortion. He interpreted the story as God asking Mary for consent before the Holy Spirit came over her.

“To me that is an affirmation in one of our most central stories that creation has to be done with consent. You cannot force someone to create. Creation is one of the most sacred acts that we engage in as human beings, but that has to be done with consent,” Talarico said.

McFarland, Alex (Christian apologist) McFarland

Dr. Alex McFarland, a Biblical apologist, says the passage in Galatians 3 that Talarico is clearly referencing refers to God's acceptance despite human differences, not a statement about God's character. The only question up for debate is whether Talarico is stupid or evil.

“James Talarico is a deceiver, a false teacher. He himself may be deceived. He is either knowingly twisting the scripture for a political ideology, or he is ignorantly spouting the falsehoods that he has been taught,” McFarland says.

Talarico is the latest Democrat to insert his heretical religious beliefs into his politics, but McFarland says he's far from the only one. He has one simple but inflexible rule for Christians when to vote.

“If you value life, if you value liberty, if you care about Israel, if you care about suppressing terrorism, no born-again Christian could possibly vote for a Democrat for anything, anything,” McFarland says.

Talarico won the Democrat primary against Jasmine Crockett to run for Senator. He will face either current Texas Senator John Cornyn or Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton.
