Chick-fil-A caught in another LGBTQ controversy

A Chick-fil-A in Orem, Utah, posted pictures on its Facebook page of a homosexual couple that had just been through a marriage ceremony, along with warm congratulations and best wishes to the happy couple.

The fast food franchise that champions Christianity shocked customers by posting warm congratulations and best wishes to the happy couple of a same-sex marriage, reports The Washington Stand. The caption above the two pictures of a gay couple hugging in the parking lot outside of the Chick-fil-A reads, "Dougie & Toby recently got married and we are so beyond happy for them!"

Chick-fil-A chains are run by individual operators, which were responsible for the post. However, it is very telling that company has not completely delt with the LGBTQ ideology that is responsible for the controversy and backlash they received several years ago.

Suzanne Bowdey, senior writing at the Family Research Council, tells AFN how she feels about it.

“I can't imagine an owner operator would think, 'hey, it's okay to say I want to be open on Sunday.' So why can they say, 'oh, I want to embrace values that Chick-fil-A as a corporation does not?'” questions Bowdey.

She says that Chick-fil-A's fall from grace started years ago when they were bullied out of supporting the Salvation Army and Fellowship of Christian Athletes in 2019, instead sending money to the Southern Poverty Law Center (SPLC).

“The disgraced racist organization (SPLC) inspired a gunman to come to our building, Family Research Council, and shoot Leo Johnson and try to murder as many staff members as possible for our marriage views,” informs Bowdey.

Bowdey says that it is a complete about-face from the company that now-U.S. Ambassador Mike Huckabee went to bat for in 2012, when the franchise was the target of LGBT hatred.

“Mike Huckabee has since come out in 2023 and said one of his biggest regrets of his entire career is rallying people behind Chick-fil-A,” states Bowdey.

She says that the restaurant still puts Bible verses on its drink cups and is referred to as "God's Chicken" by many Christians.

“This is a company that profits off of its Christian reputation. So, in my opinion, they should be held to a higher standard,” concludes Bowdey.
