Speaking on Fox and Friends, nutrition specialist Kendall Mackintosh declared our current food system to be very broken.
"Our food system and our regulators have been really asleep at the wheel for a really long time, and this should be a major wake up call to everyone here that we need to be a lot more aware of what we're putting into our bodies," Mackintosh states.
Mackintosh subsequently discussed the danger of synthetic dyes and other harmful ingredients that often show up in foods unbeknownst to consumers. She warns consumers to read labels, stating that if it cannot be pronounced or has a color accompanied by a number, then it is not natural.

"We can look at the human population over the last sixty or seventy years. What we're putting into our body is definitely affecting us, and we need to be very careful about making sure that what we do put into our body ,and especially into our little children, that it's natural and that it comes from nature because that's what growing bodies need," Mackintosh says.
After talking about the harmful effects of sugar, Mackintosh urged parents to be cautious concerning the foods they buy.
"Organic foods are definitely the best. We know that they go through that extra process to make sure that those chemicals and things are taken out. Fresh fruits and vegetables, lean meats, and healthy grains, all of those things are so important, especially for our children and the chronic disease epidemic that we're in."
