WASHINGTON — President Joe Biden has issued preemptive pardons to Dr. Anthony Fauci, retired Gen. Mark Milley and members of the controversial committee that investigated the Jan. 6 attack on the Capitol.

Biden is using the extraordinary powers of the president in the final hours of his administration to issue pardons to people who have not been charged with anything, but have been the focus of sharp condemnation from conservatives.

Fauci has been the focus of much frustration with the restrictions he ordered against Americans during the Covid period and ongoing suspicions that he may have been part of approving the experiments in a Chinese lab that led to the release of the Covid virus.

Mark Milley, who is the former chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, at one point called Trump a fascist.

Conservatives also have condemned the Nancy Pelosi committee which was set up to investigate the January 6 Capitol riot. However, the committee was made up only of people who were political enemies of Donald Trump, including the two Pelosi picked Republicans.
