First-term congressman is raising the volume

A member of the U.S. House of Representatives thinks Christian persecution should be getting more attention.

Talking about this recently on American Family Radio, Representative Riley Moore (R-West Virginia) said persecution is nothing new, but few seem to care about things happening to Christians today in various parts of the world, including Nigeria.

Moore, Rep. Riley (R-WV) Moore

"We've seen, unfortunately, scores of them murdered around Ash Wednesday, around Easter, around a lot of the holy days," he lamented. "A few years back in Egypt, Coptic Christians were killed there as well, and a church was attacked. We've also seen this now in Syria and other places in the Middle East."

Moore wants Christians to be included when "we talk about all these other groups around the world that are persecuted" because every human life is valuable.

He has been pushing for that for weeks now. In late April, the congressman gave an impassioned speech on the House floor on this very topic:

"My floor speech is going to hopefully shine a light on this and elevate that conversation and raise the volume on it and hopefully have people focused on this issue of our brothers and sisters in Christ that are being killed around the globe for just saying the name of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ," Moore told show host Jenna Ellis.

That April 30 speech was his first on the floor of the House of Representatives.
