Both Hillary Clinton and Donald Trump brought the term "fake news" into U.S. political discourse in 2016, but Dr. Jeff Schreve, founder of From His Heart Ministries, says actual fake news has been around since Genesis, when Satan told Eve, "You surely shall not die."
That is the fake news his new book, "The Devil's Newsroom: Muting Satan's Fake News & Tuning in to God's Truth," helps Christians combat.

"It exposes the lies of the enemy by dragging those lies into the truth of Scripture," Schreve details. "So many Christians believe lies when it comes to their walk with God, and we get into a performance-based acceptance with God."
Just as facts are the antidote to political fake news, Schreve says God's Truth trumps Satan's lies. The best way for Christians to explore that is by spending time in the Word – both privately and at church.
"It's incumbent upon preachers to preach the Word, be ready in season and out of season, reprove, rebuke, exhort with great patience and understanding," the pastor insists. "We live in that day and age. As Paul said to Timothy, the time will come when you're going to have ear-ticklers in the pulpit. Well, the time is now."
Believing the lies of Satan – like God is not really good, that He could never forgive our sins or ever truly love us – leads to defeat and despair. But Schreve asserts that life does not have to be that way.
