Conservative activist calls out Walgreens for inappropriate displays

A conservative activist says Walgreens is selling items one might expect to see at an X-rated store as opposed to a pharmacy for people of all ages.

Robby Starbuck is a filmmaker, a vocal conservative figure, and a visiting fellow with The Heritage Foundation.

He shared a picture recently on social media of various adult items for sale at a Walgreens store. They are seen on a shelf behind a clear, protective enclosure, on full display with prices.

Starbuck shared his reaction in an interview with AFN.

"Kids walk by and can see them very easily, and so, this is an issue that I think every parent can identify as a problem, right?" Starbuck asks.

He said consumers don't have to be looking for this stuff in the store for their kid to run into it.

"It opens up a whole world of conversations that I don't think any parent wants to have with their four or five- or six-year-olds," states Starbuck.

He explained that he has a wife and four kids himself.

"I don't want my kids having to interact with this stuff if you go to the pharmacy, you know?" Starbuck says.

He doesn't think this is a hard thing for Walgreens to solve.

"You can have an adult-only area, or you can sell it online or whatever… I mean if it were me, I wouldn't sell it, but if they're going to sell this stuff, you can at the very least protect children," Starbuck says.

Starbuck explained somebody shared with him the picture he posted on X. He said the picture was from a Walgreens in California, but he has seen these kinds of items for sale in his own local Walgreens in Tennessee.

"That photo is from California, but this isn't just a California problem. This is all over the place. So, if you read the replies to my post, folks from all over the place have seen this issue," Starbuck states.

He said that it is happening at other drug stores as well, not just Walgreens.

Starbuck already posted again on X stating that he knows Walgreens is aware of the issue as the CEO Tim Wentworth warned his employees against woke activism at work.

"Walgreens can be a leader here in correcting the problem and showing other stores the path to doing this the right way," says Starbuck.

AFN reached out to Walgreens for comment last week but did not receive a response by the time of publication.
