Israeli troops battle terrorists in north Gaza amid reports of hostage deal

DEIR AL-BALAH, Gaza Strip — Israeli troops battled Palestinian terrorists in an urban refugee camp and outside a nearby hospital Tuesday as the army expanded operations across northern Gaza amid reports of a possible hostage deal.

The front line of the war, now in its seventh week, shifted to the Jabaliya refugee camp, a dense warren of concrete buildings near Gaza City where the Israeli military says Hamas terrorists have regrouped after being pushed out of much of Gaza City.

Senior Hamas officials, meanwhile, said they were close to reaching a deal through international mediators to release some of the estimated 240 people taken hostage by the terrorists who massacred more than 1400 Israeli men, women and children on October 7th.

Fox News is reporting the deal could involve a ceasefire for several days and an exchange of one hostage in return for the Israelis releasing 3 Palestinians being held prisoners in Israeli jails.
