Political targeting of Trump in court will backfire, says Penn. activist

A Pennsylvania pro-family activist believes efforts by the Left to keep former President Donald Trump off the campaign trail are playing right into the hands of conservatives.

Pennsylvania's Republican and Democratic primaries are on tap for Tuesday, April 23. But a judge in New York has ordered Trump cannot campaign during the proceedings of his "hush money" trial. New York County district attorney Alvin Bragg (pictured above) and his legal team brought a 34-count indictment against the former president last year.

Judicial Watch is denouncing the proceedings in the Empire State as "unprecedented prosecution" by Democrats who want to make Trump a "political prisoner."

"It will be nearly impossible for Trump to receive a fair trial in a courtroom run by biased, anti-Trump Democratic Party politicians," says Tom Fitton, president of Judicial Watch. "[These] kangaroo court proceedings in the Manhattan Supreme Court mark the first-ever criminal trial of a U.S. president."

Trump's trial is expected to keep him a New York City courtroom for four days a week.

"This is a dangerous attack on the rule of law and a brazen attempt to rig the 2024 elections for President Biden and Democrats," Fitton adds.

Diane Gramley, president of the American Family Association of Pennsylvania, concurs – but contends the entire effort by the Left to keep Trump off the campaign trail is playing into the hands of conservatives.

"Because there's more and more evidence to them that he is being targeted for political purposes [and] that the Left is interfering with the election process," she tells AFN. "So here in Pennsylvania, President Trump will win next Tuesday during the primary."

Meanwhile, President Joe Biden has been able to campaign in Pennsylvania, where polls show the two are in a virtual tie. Gramley advises voters to just pay attention to what's being said and done.

"Anyone who listens to [Joe Biden] in a fair way knows that he is not capable of running his own affairs, let alone running the affairs of a country," she states. "People just need to be fair when they listen to him – and they need to be watching what's happening to President Trump. They need to be watching that with open eyes to see how he's being targeted."

Jury selection in the "hush money" trial against Trump began on Monday. Two of the 7 already picked have been dismissed .
